Do your own research to find out things like what is universal health care, what is health care cost what are other industrial democratic countries doing. How many without insurance in the US, who bears the costs for them. If you choose the topic of gun ownership look into how many deaths by guns in the USA, how many incidents of mass shooting, rational for minimal control, Is the second amendment sacrosanct? Is the NRA interpretation of the 2nd amendment correct? What controls are imposed in other industrial democratic countries such as UK, Canada, Switzerland and Australia? You will write a 7/8- page paper on the following: (12 pt. times Roman font, 1.5 line spacing). For bibliography and end notes (1 page), use the MLA style. (Do not copy quotes; cite the source (author, title and page number or the web site) Please post paper on time. Some notes for your reflection on Health Care: First topic requires you to compare Rawls and Nozick’s theoretical position on health care especially on the role of the state, on what is just and fair. (For your information: Universal health care means everyone has free and equal access to some degree of healthcare. How much and what coverage depends on what a society believes o be the appropriate coverage and who should be covered. The three propositions to keep in mind as you develop your answer are: 1.idea that health care is a natural and fundamental right. (Is it or is it not? What would Rawls and Nozick think?) 2.Universal health care is a good idea and will lead to justice and fairness. (Will it or will it not? What would Nozick and Rawls think?) 3.The state as a representative of the collective will of the people has an obligation to promote health and offer equal access to health care. (Should the US government so obligated? What would Rawls and Nozick think? ) The three questions on which you write your essay on heath care are: 1.Explain what position Rawls will take on the idea that healthcare is a fundamental right, is in common interest, and the state has a responsibility to ensure equal access to 1. A modicum of healthcare or 2. Universal full Health care. 2.The same goes for Nozick. What will be his position and what argument will he offer to explain why he takes that particular position on universal or some modicum of healthcare? 3.Give your opinion on the above, who do you agree with if so, why.
