Early in the semester, you will select a general public policy area as the focus of your research paper. Examples would include, but not be limited to, policies related to affirmative action, environmental protection, wealth and/or poverty, worker safety, antitrust, sexual harassment, consumer protection, and free trade. The policy issue paper provides you an opportunity to demonstrate your research skills as well as your ability to understand and integrate the concepts and approaches provided in the course. This paper is to be double-spaced, using a 12-point font, and will not exceed 12 typed pages including cover page and references (If you need to place secondary information in an Appendix, please keep at a minimum). An abstract is not required. The textbook is a necessary citation within your paper, but you must also include a minimum of 5 additional academic sources are used to support your perspective. This means you will have a minimum of 6 references. These references MUST be included in your body of the paper. How does power affect this issue? What elements of social responsibility surface in this issue? Is there a positive or negative connection to social responsibility? Can you identify any norms, principles, codes of conduct, standards, etc.? 10 Ethics and Leadership Is there a specific principle of ethical conduct you see within the issue? How does ethics affect the stakeholders connected to the issue? What are some of the managerial and organizational ethical implications and needs? Does technology or the global arena affect this issue? 10 External and Internal Stakeholder Issues How does this policy broadly affect the internal stakeholders? How does this policy broadly affect external stakeholders? How is the consumer or the community member affected? What are some aspects of the natural environment that are impacted? How is the policy affected by diversity (demographics, basic rights, etc.)? 10 Overall Critiques and Discussion What are your thoughts about the public policy issue? Do you have potential solutions? Can you think of potential barriers?
